asshou

So, the wireless on the Mac works now. I'm sure this has been a fascinating series of updates. What made it work? Nothing, really. Resetting the router, maybe. That didn't work before, so I can't pinpoint the solution, but it doesn't matter. Now to figure out what to do with the internet.

Again with the pointless posting. This is the first one from the new Mac, though. I'm still getting used to the little keyboard, and I can currently only connect using an ethernet cord since this computer refuses to do anything correctly regarding the wireless. Ah, well. That's all for now, but I'm sure there will be plenty of pictures of my dog later.

Pasokon

Man, I am posting like the dickens, but I'm sure this will die off soon. There's only so much to say about walking a dog. So, anyway, I got my new computer today. It's an Apple MacBook, which I got specifically for going to Japan. For anyone who happens upon this blog and feels the need to tell me that there are only like four Apple stores in all of Japan and I should have gotten a PC, don't bother.

Despite those annoying Apple commercials in which the hyper-groovy Mac guy and the hyper nerdy PC guy (actually the very funny John Hodgman) try their best to irritate me so much I will never purchase a Mac, I got one. A certain somebody very much wanted me to get one, as she has one, and video chat should be easy between the two. That's good enough for me, plus I'm getting a little tired of the undeletable spyware on my current PC which keeps telling me I need to download more undeletable spyware to remove other, nonexistent spyware.

So in an effort to bring this blog up to speed with all you internet hep cats, here is a picture of my new Apple and an old apple from the fridge that turned out to be very tasty; guess which one will connect to my wireless network here at home?

The answer is neither of them. At least the apple on the right was delicious. The one on the left just gives nondescript error messages. I managed to get it to connect to the network, or at least it says so, but it says it can't connect to the internet. This is probably hogwash and I'm guessing it is just stupid. But, whatever, I don't really need it to do that at home; it would just be nice. Say what you will about PCs, at least their error messages are cryptic, just strings of numbers that will take you to a possibly helpful web page. These Macs just refuse to admit that they are wrong. Ah, well, at least it's pretty.

E

E means picture, by the way. It's not a typo.

I had better put on some oven mitts because I am holding one HOTT piece of art. My friend who is currently in Japan likes to draw and even though he sucks* we all humor him. He sent me a link to his latest creation.

He said he asked for a "brilliant idea" and was given this to work with. So, there you go.

*He's actually alright.

In the grand tradition of people thinking their lives are interesting enough that other people will want to read about them, I have obviously started a blog. In the grand tradition of people going abroad being annoying, I am trying to insert just enough Japanese into this that it is annoying for the readers without being informative.
So, I'm going to Japan, but not for another month, almost. Right now I am just doing nothing when I should be reapplying for grad schools, in math for anybody who didn't know. My other activities include watching tv, talking to the dog, practicing Japanese, and playing crappily on my keyboard which isn't really mine at all. I suppose that's enough for the first post, especially since nobody will read it until I tell them the address anyway. I should probably get around to that.
